Happy Halloween

I hope everyone had a fun and safe Halloween! This year was our first Halloween and it was interesting...Where we live, the town closes down Main Street between 4pm and 5pm and all the businesses come outside on the sidewalk and give out candy. This was the first time we had done this...goodness gracious it was wild! I didn't know that many people lived in Farmville!! We were a tad overwhelmed, so we decided to just let Alley walk around and not even worry about the candy...she loved it! We cut out early and came back to the house to get ready for all the trick-or-treaters (and eat dinner, bath and get ready for bed). Around 6pm people started to show up at the door, so Alley and I sat out on the front steps and handed out candy. She loved it! We had a great time looking at all the costumes and even were serenaded by a group (singing the ABC song - which Alley proceeded to sway back and forth to!). Our candy was gone in minutes, so we called it a night soon after. Here are some pictures and a video of the evening:

Fall is in the air...

Not that it hasn't been chilly in the past weeks, but today felt like fall. There is a chill in the air, the trees have been changing colors and just look glorious, and my hands are blistered from raking leaves. Plus, Alley looked festive in a dress that had fall leaves all over it. So adorable! This dress Alley has on is a dress that was made for Carlee Scott (my brother's daughter) by Jessica's (my sister-in-law) mom (Candi). Thanks to all for letting Alley borrow it! It's a gorgeous dress Candi - you have an incredible talent!!Alley checking out the cat - who just wants to get out and away from her!
Walking in her new dress with her new church shoes:)
Checking out the leaves on the ground and on her dress:)
She wasn't into getting her picture taken, she wanted the camera
Hope your weekend was enjoyable!

The play room

We have finally started setting up a play room for Alley. It's not because she has anymore toys or a lot of toys...it's solely for the purpose of creating a space just for her. We are still in the process of getting it ready, but have set her toys up in bins so she can start playing in there. The great thing is that it has a window that can be opened and I can see in the room all the way from the kitchen...of course she doesn't want to be alone in it right now (I don't blame her!), but I'm hoping eventually she'll enjoy the space:) I've got a lot of ideas for that room to make it much more kid friendly, I can't wait...
Here are some pictures of her "enjoying" her space:)
Pat the bunny - what a wonderful story - of course she thinks it says lick the bunny - yummy, that tastes good:/
Mom, seriously, you're embarrassing me!
Looking from the outside in - does she seem tired or what!

Gone too long...

It's been awhile since I blogged last...a lot has been going on here in the McPherson household. Alley has been having rough sleepless nights which we just chalked up to her teething (she still only has her 2 lower front teeth...poor thing!). Finally, after a week of fluctuating with a temperature between 99 and 101, I took her to the doctor...she has a bad ear infection and a really red throat. I feel awful! I kept thinking all week, "oh it's just her teeth, she'll get better!" At least I finally took her in :/ She's still not in the clear though. She started some medicine yesterday and has had some sort of reaction (we think it's from the medicine)...so I have to take her in tomorrow morning to get some lab work done. Please pray for us both - I'm nervous!!
On a lighter note - my mom was going through some boxes and found some leftover birthday plates from a birthday party I had when I was really little! So she brought them over to let us use them for Alley's first birthday party....which is in a month!!!! My baby is going to be one!!! Oh but I'll save all the "sadness" for another day;) Here's a picture of the plates!:)

Saturday

Today Alley and I traveled to Richmond to visit Mimi and Papa while Andy was out of town. We enjoyed our time with them and even got to see the newest member of the family (Kit-Kat - a gray tabby kitten). Alley even said cat - in a garbled way, but we all heard cat;) - and she followed it around all day saying woof-woof...it was too cute for me to correct her:)
The introductions...and the end of freedom for the kitten...
(notice the telephone hanging from my daughters mouth...I mean seriously child?!)
Mimi playing games with Alley - and Alley showing off her only two teeth...
The end of the day...too tired to crawl...she had to take a break/rest in the middle of a crawl...must have been a GREAT day with Mimi and Papa!!
