So far this weekend has been a nice one. We've relaxed as well as accomplished a lot in the two days we've had away from work. I have a 5 day weekend (I know, unheard of in the public school world!) due to some built in snow days we never needed...yeah for an extra long weekend and a super short work week:)! Anyway, we've been busy (okay, Andy has been busy) building the first installment of kitchen cabinets and it look beautiful! He has almost finished the massive pantry...all he has to do is finish putting the door panels together. Besides that we've taken plenty of walks and played lots as well. Here are some photos from the first half of our weekend.

Welcome to the circus! Sit back, relax and enjoy the show...and please pray for the parents! ;)

Lazy Saturday
Today has been a day were we haven't done much of anything, but we've been very busy. We woke up early this morning and went to the grocery store before it got too crazy. We then went for a looooong walk around the neighborhood. We extended our walk because Alley fell asleep in the stroller and we didn't feel like bothering her (besides, it was an absolutely gorgeous morning!). Then after lunch we strolled downtown and did some window shopping and had a smoothie. When we returned Alley took a nap and Andy and I have been trying to fix somethings and relax as well.
This morning Andy took this video of Alley rolling around and "talking". It's adorable!

Mother's Day weekend
We have had a great weekend and first mother's day:) First off, my wonderful husband and daughter got me a new digital camera for mother's day! I absolutely love it! THANKS! I must say though, that the highlight of the weekend was going to Richmond to run in the Race for a Cure with my parents. As many of you know, my mother is breast cancer survivor. She beat the odds and came back from stage 4 breast cancer (all the while with three young kids)! Way to go mom, you are a true hero and role-model!! Anyway, John came in to join in the family festivities and we had a blast running the race, I mean, dodging all the walkers:) The morning of the race we surprised mom with a shirt we had made for Alley to wear to show her support of "mimi" during the race.
Here's Alley sporting her new favorite shirt. It's a pink ribbon with Mimi written in the center of it...
This is us all after the race...sorry for the off-center photo:)Then on Sunday we all went to granny's house for a mother's day lunch...it was wonderful getting to spend my first mother's day with some incredible mother's and role-models:) Thanks Granny and Mom for all you've taught me! HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

Heart of Virginia
Today was the annual Heart of Virginia festival here in Farmville. I remember going to this festival once when I was in grade school and we were up visiting Granny and Doc...but man, it was tons bigger then what I remembered it being!! Everywhere I turned there was a funnel cake booth and a snow cone booth...I think they were the big foods of the festival:) Anyway, it was full of crafts and food and took up two long streets.
We started the morning at Bubba and Cortney Smith's house for breakfast and then Tom and Leeann Rasey met us and we all walked down to the festival. It was a beautiful warm day out and all the kids were so excited to get there (Alley kept squealing!). The streets were packed and the food smelled so good...I knew it was going to be a good day;) We separated from the Smith's and their kids (since we didn't have kids who could ride the rides like they could) and went on to look at all the booths. It was a fun day just hanging out and people watching. We decided to eat at a BBQ place right in the heart of the festival...we had a great time eating and hanging out. Here are some pictures from lunch:Alley hanging out in her beloved jogging stroller:)Tom giving Alley some loving...she definitely loves flirting with him (watch out Leeann!)Leeann and Alley hanging out at lunch - she loves all the attention:)

The swing
Awhile back we received a "jump&go" as a gift for Alley. We have been saving it for a time when we felt she was "old enough" and "big enough" to use it. So, we decided since she's rolling over, sitting up, almost crawling and trying to stand up on her own, that it was time to let her at it:) She loves it! She twirls, bounces, swings and giggles in it! It's so funny to watch her play in it. We have lowered it so her feet are flat on the ground until she gets use to bouncing in it, and once that happens, we'll raise it to the recommended height. Here are some photos of her:And here is a little video of her trying it all out:)
