Walking

Here she goes...watch out:) This is about as good a video as I can get right now. She's been taking 10+ steps and we've decided we're in trouble! Sorry it's sideways - I can't figure out how to change it:) If anyone wants to come visit, bring your running shoes!!!

Football

Today was a big day in the McPherson household...not only did Alley take 6 steps on her own (yesterday) but she is standing all by herself for long periods of time! We are definitely in for some trouble real soon!!
Alley also experienced her first HSC football game today. We bought her an adorable HSC polo dress for this football season to show her support for daddy's team - and she looked adorable in it I must say:). I was a little nervous on how she would do during the game, especially since it was smack dab right in the middle of her afternoon nap - Yikes! All in all she did wonderful! We did lots of "walking" (okay, standing, taking a few steps, then sitting down and off crawling), hung out with some friends and just enjoyed the atmosphere. I was even able to get her to take a 30 minute nap (success!) by putting her in her stroller and taking her for a walk. Here are some photos from today:
Catching Alley in her new dress playing with her HSC bear.
A family picture (in the wind, sun and with a child who wants to look at EVERYTHING!!)
Escape, Escape!!
Playing ring around the tent poll - sounds fun;)
The end of the day...I think she wore herself out...

Girls Day

Today we had a Girls day. Andy is off with the football team in Pennsylvania (they won! 2-0!), so Alley and I had a wonderful day just being together. We played lots on the floor, climbed stairs (over and over and over again), walked from furniture to furniture, went to the pool and went on a few walks (one to visit Granny). All in all it was great:) The most significant and biggest thing is that Alley stood by herself and took two steps!!!! YIKES!! She's been trying to stand alone and walk by herself for a while and this week she finally started doing it a little bit. Then, today she did it confidently and then kept doing it over and over and over again...she even showed Granny her new trick:)
Another first for this week was that Alley got her first pair of shoes! She has never worn shoes, not even the infant ones...so it was hilarious putting them on her feet! She wasn't happy with them at first, but now she's fine with it all. They are adorable (and huge!!)! We went to Richmond to Stride Rite and had her fitted. When the lady put the shoes on Alley's feet and we stood her on the ground, she couldn't pick up her feet. Then she would drag them and look at us like "what is on my feet?"- It was hilarious! Mom and I were laughing so hard!
Okay:) Here are some pictures from today:
Here she is trying to escape (actually, the cat is on the other side and she is obsessed with the cat and trying to get to her!)
Here she is standing next to the sofa - I tried all day to get a shot of her walking or at least standing alone, but she wouldn't let me:( Check out her adorable shoes though!

Lazy Saturday

Today we declared it "lazy Saturday". Because of hurricane Hanna, the HSC football game was moved to Sunday afternoon, so that meant Alley and I had the whole day with Andy:) We woke up to some serious rain and wind so we decided it a great day to be unproductive! We did end up having to make an outing to the grocery store because Alley needed formula (whoops!), so we ventured out in the pouring rain. It was great though, Wal-Mart was almost completely empty...what a treat;) Anyway, we spent the day doing laundry, watching football and napping (Alley napped WONDERFULLY today!!) - could the day have been any more glorious!!! The sun did show it's face and the rain did stop by late afternoon, so before dinner we took a walk around the neighborhood and visited granny (so we were somewhat productive!). Here is a little of what we did:Alley's new favorite thing to do - problem: she gets stuck!
Alley and Andy reading Pat the Bunny...she loves feeling the binding of the book - silly thing:)
So serious...
She's being possessive of her blocks...let's see how many she can put in her mouth:)
